By Counc i I suggest ion COHCERT was to have a membership of nine, one member coming from each ward and named by the wardrs Councilman and one member named to the committee by the MaYor. Attached is a resolution prescribing the duties and membership composition of the Committee on. Concerted Community Services. The need for C0MCERT has grown acute in recent months as residents of public housing projects have grown to some 8,000 at Present. Within six months it is anticipated that some 12,000 people will reside in Housing Authority projects. I{HEREAS, there are numerous and varied service organizations in Oklahoma City which provide health, welfare, rehabilicative, vocati.onal, and social services to 1ow-income residents of Oklahorna City; and I'IHBEAS, there is a critical, need to coordinate Ehose services for Ehe citizens of Oklahoma City residing in public housing projects; and I,ilIERIAST oD l'trarch 17, L970, the City Council passed a resoluEion creating the CormitEee on Concerted'Corunrnity Services (C0MCERT). This Corcnittee is charged wiEh Ehe responsibility of: (a) Goordinating city and qocial services at public housing projecEs. (b) Investigate and make recoumendaEions on funding of Cormnr.nity service prograrns aE housing projecEs; and (c) Appoint a Eechnical advisory council- for planning and guidance of service progranso . WHEREAST s€id cormnitEee was originally creaced with five members but, in order to achieve the intended objecEives of COMCERT, it is deemed advisable that the merbership of said corrnittee be expanded from five members to nine mernberg.
