I I Z5 - ?0 JuIy 28, 1970 TO: Mayor and Council tr'ROM: City Manager Subject: Upgrading of Salary Range - Sanitation Superintendent -l The position of Sanitation Superintendent has been under review since the budget sessions. This review indicates that the position is cornparable to level of responsibility and work perforrned to that of the other rnajor divisions within the Public Works Departrnent. Present salary range of Sanitation Superintendent is 226, which is one step below that of the other rnajor division heads, i. e., Pollution Control Utilities Superintendent, Equiprnent Maintenance Superintendent, and Street Public W'orks Superintendent. As a result of this review, it is recornrnended that the salary range of the Sanitation Superintendent be upgraded frorn Salary Range 226 ($840- $1002.50) to Salary Range ?27 ($880-$I047.50). The incurnbent in this position is presently in the beginning step - AA of Salary P*ange 226. Therefore, the upgrading of the salary range would have a net budget effect of $440 for FY70-71. Funds are available in the contingency account 9-2-86. It is the Adrninistrationrs regrnmendation that the salary range for Sanitation Superintendent be Range Z2f and that the upgrading of the salary range be forrnally added to the classification-cornpensation plan effective August I, I97O. spectfully rnitted, *,\ fq- (r+ ! cd\ Ro H. Oldland n City r -t ,{ $ $,r$ RESOLUTION IMHEREAS, the Pub1ic W'orks Director has requested a review of the position of Sanitation Superintendent within his departrnent concerning the salaly range for this position, and WHEREAS, the Personnel Director has conducted a review of other rnajor division heads within this departrnent, and WHEREAS, the Adrninistrative Staff has reviewed this request along with the Personnel Director and the Finance Director and concur in recornrrrending upgrading this salary range to that of cornparable division heads, and WHEREAS, the City Council has the sole authority and responsibility to approve such actions concerning the expenditure of funds not approved in the presently adopted budget, and W'HEREAS, the funds for this action are available within the present lirnitations of the FY70-71 budget, and WHEREAS, this action is deerned to be in the best interest of the City in that it would provide better and rnore effective service to the public; NOW, THEREI'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the personnel actions and appropriation requested in the attached cornrnunication is approved and the City Manager is directed to process the budgetary appropriations in accordance with State Laws concerning Excise Board consideration.
