It No. \, t I I E rz-ze-lo >fr_-z IZAS I I tlf ii ,,:i r;/ r-r ] couNCrL MEMo No. t 860-70 December ?2, L970 TO Mayor and City Council FROM: City Manager SUBJECT: Reclassification and Transfer of Existing Positions in the Po1ice Departrnent As requested by the Po1ice Department, the Personnel Depart- rnent has reviewed the need for the reassignrnent of two Sergeants in the Police Departrnent to (l) Public Information Officer in the Chiefrs Office and (2) Assistant Training Officer in the Training Division of the Police Departrnent. In order to accomplish these needed changes, it will be necessary to reclassify two existing Po1ice Officer vacancies to that of Sergeant in order to replace the two Sergeants who will be reassigned. In addition, one Sergeantrs position will need to be transferred frorn Account 43 to Account 40 and one Sergeantrs position frorn Account 41 to Account 43. The increased budgetary effect is $60.00 per rnonth or for the rernainder of the fiscal year, $720.00. It is the adrninistrationrs recorrrnendation that these transfers and reclassifications be approved and be rnad.e effective January I, 1971. spectfully rnitted, Ro IJ. Oldland City ger Attachrnent RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Police Chief has requested a review of the need for a Sergeantts position in the Chiefts Office as a Public Inforrnation Officer and a Sergeantrs position in the Training Division as Assistant Training Officer, and WHEREAS, the Personnel Director has conducted a review of the need for such positions, and WHEREAS, the Adrninistrative Staff has reviewed this request along with the Personnel Director and the Finance Director and concur in recornrrrending the transfer of two Sergeantrs positions and the reclassification of two Police Officer positions to Sergeant to replace those being transferred, and WHEREAS, the City Council has the sole authority and responsibility to approve such actions concerning the expenditure of funds not approved in the presently adopted budget, and WHEREAS, the funds for this action are available within the present lirnitations of the FY70-7I budget, and W.HEREAS, this action is deerned to be in the best interest of the City in that it would provide better and rnore effective services to the public; NOW, THEREtr'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the personnel actions and appropriation requested in the attached cornrnunication is approved and the City Manager is directed to process the budgetary appropriations in accordance with State Laws concerning Excise Board consideration.
