Our conrmunicat Ioad, including radlo transml-ssions and after- hour telephone answering, has grorirn a point where rf,e are now handllng 1400 cormunicatlons per month. In our EY 66-67 Service Progr the personnel schedule authorf-zes one (1) Warning and Coumunications Officer three (3) Comuni.cators. Our experience in- dicates a deficiency in manpower to i.ciently operate an around-the-clock operation. We are accumulating a considerable of exchange time and will- fegin annual vacati.on l-eaves for which we will able to adequately maintain our present cover- age. In order to fulfiIl our commtrnications needs, I am requesting an additlonal positlon of Cormunlcator or the balance of this fiscal year. I feel we can employ an additlonal wd.thout a supplement to our personneL account by not filling the position of Shel Inventory Inspector which will be vacated April 20, L967. Although we wilL not reguire additional money, I should point out there will be a loss of income on the Shelter Inspector positi-on from federal matching funds amountlng to approximatel-y $ for the balance of this flscal year.
